It's Not Gonna Slow Me Down!

I've been working on a Christmas stocking for my sweet step-grandson who turned two this year. I've hit a few road blocks, running out of various threads. DMC Perle Cotton #3 isn't carried in shops in my area, so need to order more via the internet. However, this little glitch isn't going to slow down my progress.

I plan on stitching his name and then starting the background (top right) and work my way down to where I've run out of threads.

It's a bit difficult to see, but the puppies, red ribbon, box and part of the evergreens are done:

  4. It looks lovely. A couple years ago (actually more like 3 or 4) I did stockings for all my grandchildren, taking about a month per stocking. I have to say that I enjoyed most of the process and my grandkids certainly (I hope) enjoy the stockings every year. Their own little piece of family legacy. I even included stockings for a few cousins and two more grandchildren that came along in the interim.

Stockings are an heirloom that will never tarnish, get old, or not put a smile on the child's face -- even when the child is 40. Here's to your heirloom stocking.

  17. I only recently found a store (over an hour away) that carries size 3 perle cotton. I imagine the texture on this stocking has to be marvelous with that thread! What a gorgeous treasure.
