And the Stockings were Hung…..iSitch Sew Advent SAL - Day 9

Last year I wasn't in the mood for Christmas, Christmas decorations….nothing festive.  My dear mother had passed away a mere 7 weeks before and I was completely and utterly empty. The only decoration we had was a red candle on the mantle of the fireplace.

This year, I'm trying to get more in the spirit of the season. The needlepoint stockings I made for DH, my daughter, the dogs and myself are out of their storage place. They were hung with care:
And here is a heart flower for Day 9 of the Sew Advent SAL:

Keep yourself surrounded by stitches ~ Cheers ~

  5. I feel for you. My son passed away 4 weeks before XMAS 2 years ago. I still haven't put up any decorations. Only the cards I have received. I know I should be putting up something for the grandchildren but it is so hard.... You are doing very well. I love your stockings. My mums friends have stitched some of them too

  6. Your stockings look wonderful. Happy you are able to do some decorating this year. I just lost my Mother this past October. I have many of my mothers decorations; and I have been using them to decorate my home with this year. I know she would be happy. She loved decorating at Christmas. Wishing you many happy blessings.

  9. Lovely stockings Kim , and your SAL is looking beautiful.
Sorry to hear of your moms passing , I lost my dad two years ago the day after Christmas.
It's hard at Christmas time. I always light a candle Christmas Eve to let my loved ones know I am thinking of them and in a way it feel's like letting them be part of our Christmas.
